Welcome to Model UNSF!
Model United Nations Strategic Framework Conference 2024
January 31st - February 2nd, 2024
What is Model UNSF?
Model United Nations Strategic Framework Conference (Model UNSF) is a 3-day multinational youth-led conference that PSCORE is organizing for the third time now, to raise awareness of the issues surrounding North Korea in reference to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our Goal
As to put the main objectives of the conference in practice – which are to raise awareness of the North Korean issues and the making of a Strategic Framework between the United Nations and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) – the participants will act upon the international cooperation and understanding of the UN policies in various forms, such as the organizing members, moderators, and delegates.
Ultimately, the Model UNSF conference aims to create a new Strategic Framework to be achieved between the UN and the DPRK by the end of the year 2024.
“Hello and welcome to PSCORE’s Model United Nations Strategic Framework 2024 Conference.
My name is Kim Tae-hoon, and I am the president of PSCORE.
The purpose of this conference is to raise awareness of North Korean human rights issues, the Sustainable Development Goals and their implementation in North Korea, and to create a Strategic Framework between the United Nations and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The participants will act out international cooperation and understanding of UN policies as organizing committee members, resident coordinators, and delegates, in order to put the conference’s main objectives into practice.
The conference will serve as a global forum for aspiring activists, diplomats, and leaders from both Korean and international backgrounds to meet and discuss the next Strategic Framework, which will be based on the following focus groups:
Number 1: Food and Nutrition Security, related to SDGs 2 and 9.
Number 2: Social Development Services, related to SDGs 3, 4 and 6.
Number 3: Resilience and Sustainability, related to SDGs 7, 11, 12, 13 and 15.
Number 4: Data and Human Rights, related SDGs 16 and 17.
An important aspect of our conference is our Model UNSF Academy, a lecture series that we organized to give our participants a better understanding of the United Nations Strategic Framework, the Voluntary National Review, and ECOSOC and the High-Level Political Forum. The series consists of three lectures by key players in the areas of SDGs and the UN.
The UN’s work in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea aims to assist and strengthen national initiatives to improve people’s well-being, with a focus on the most vulnerable groups. The Framework should also be viewed as a cooperative agreement between the UN and the DPRK regarding what should be accomplished through collaborative efforts.
We welcome all participants and hope that our Model United Nations Strategic Framework Conference 2022 can contribute to expanding the experiences and awareness of young people in the areas of SDGs and their implementations in North Korea through building a new Strategic Framework between the UN and the DPRK by the end of 2024.
Thank you.“
