Conference Dates

The Model UNSF 2024 Conference will take place from January 31st to February 2nd.

Detailed Information

The aim of the first day is to learn more about the situation in North Korea, in order to have all the knowledges necessary to apply the Model UNSF to the specific case of North Korea. To do so, the day will begin with a visit to Mount Odusan Unification Observatory, at the top of which we can see North Korea. Then, in the afternoon, lectures will be held at the National Unification Education Institute by a panel of speakers, including North Korean defectors and experts on human rights in North Korea.

The second day will be dedicated to the Model UNSF, in which the goal will be to create resolutions/working papers that target human rights abuses in North Korea. The participants will represent the DPRK, the ROK and UN agencies, as if they were working for these governments or agencies. At the end of the day, the objective is to rewrite the UN Strategic Framework, a document shaping the actions of the UN in DPRK. To do so, in the morning, delegates will be divided in 2 committees, each focused on a UN Strategic priority. Then, in the afternoon, they will be reunited for the Assembly session, to share their work and to write the entire and final document.

On the third day, participants will take part in a workshop about Social Integration. Through some games, the aim is to make people aware that every country has a different lifestyle, that everyone classifies as “normal” and “abnormal” according to their own lifestyle. However, in every way of leaving, there are good aspects to take, and this can be applied to South and North Korea to prepare for a successful reunification. Finally, to close this three-day event, an awards ceremony will take place to reward the best chairs and delegates of the 2024 Model UNSF session.
